Galkyd thins oil colors and increases transparency and gloss. When used in greater proportions with oil color, it will level brushstrokes (unlike Galkyd Lite, which retains them), creating an enamel-like surface. It is Gamblin's fastest-drying painting medium. Thin layers will be touch-dry in approximately 24 hours.

Using as a varnish or final coat is not recommended.
